Lately Dennilfloss has been recruiting in the Off-Topic forum of Anandtech. At the rate he is going it is impossible to name all the new people, cracking for our RC5-team. If you want you can read all about it in this thread. We would like to give all of them a big welcome. Also Adul is a great recruiter for TA. His assimilations can be followed here. We hope all the new members will be part of the largest distributed computing family for a very long time.

The Seti team also got reinforcements from a good number of new members, amongst them:
Gringo, danzigrules, Jed Hagan, shuxclams, Steven Juras, Jamie, pjs and pancho. They are also welcomed into Team Anandtech.

Ranking

Project RC5

Somehow we need to pick up the pace. Within 2 weeks we will pass /. into the no. 1 position, but if we do not look out, DPC will be overtaking us by the end of the year. Their growth rate is still higher than TA's, but on the bright side: we have Dennilfloss and Adul recruiting like crazy.

For some figures now:

Block production Total no blocks Oct/21 Total no blocks Oct/28 Week production
Slashdot 478,562,127 484,612,242 6,050,115
Team Anandtech 467,220,823 477,474,328 10,253,505
Dutch Power Cows 369,408,990 386,081,440 16,672,450

Slashdot 3866 605 3261
Team Anandtech 2445 643 1800

Project Seti

Overall #?? ranking for 10/28 in the Club Teams category.
Local group production on Oct./28/2000:

12 Linux.................................(+87321)......... +1313
13 OS/2 Warp.........................(+16306).......... +988
14 Team Nippon........................(+6973)........ +1300

For awhile it looked as if Tteam Rnoggin was closing in, but the tide has turned. The TA-Seti team is going well. If all goes well Team Nippon should be overtaken within a month.

Donations for TA Banner AD - Now at 804.50 TA
First posting: Oct/10/2000 by DanC

In this thread all members are asked to donate money in order to try and get some banner advertisment space on a high traffick website. The goal is to reach at least $1000, so the amount is still $200 short.
An interesting means of donating someone elses money is becoming a member of paypal, an online bankaccount. They will give you and the person who referred you $5 each.

Zijn er nog teams die flushplannen hebben ???? DPC
First posting: Oct/27/2000 by Proxy 71

Proxy 71asks the DPC-crew if anyone has plans for a team- or individual megaflush. A number of DPC-members are responding to it and numbers of 50k-1m are mentioned. The largest number mentioned by Proxy 71, lies between 700k-800k. Burat is talking about 200k and several others have 100k ready to be flushed. Aginor wants to pass not only Slashdot (/.) on december, 31th, but take TA down in the process.

96 nieuwe computers!!!! DPC
First posting: Oct/29/2000 by Paul18

Paul18 announces the assimilation of 96 computers (71 PIII-500 and 25 PIII-600) for the DPC. Now, he's wondering how to get all the blocks to the (networked) computers, since only one machine has internet-access. Two members respond with the answer: "You should use a perproxy!".

First posting: Oct/29/2000 by EmperorNero

This thread gives a nice overview of a number of distributed computing projects around the internet. If you know of some more, please add them to the list on the forum.

In short

It has been an exciting week, in which a lot has happened. Dennilfloss and Adul with their assimilations, DanC with his money-raising effort for an online advertisment, the problems with Mika's proxy and not to forget the birth of this newsletter. Finally the team is getting back on track after some heavy discussions on the forum.

In this newsletter, we have mentioned all the topics we could think of. Yet, not all of them are filled yet. This newsletter is ment to give the first group of readers an idea of what can be expected in the future. If any remark, idea or suggestion might arise, please don't hesitate to send them to the editorial team.
